“Digitalisation and Well-being”
Prof. Pawan Budhwar (Aston University)
Prof. Budhwar’s keynote explores the evolving relationship between digitalisation and well-being, providing essential background and conceptual frameworks for understanding their intersection. It examines how the rapid adoption of digital technologies, including AI, impacts individual and organizational well-being-offering benefits such as improved communication and productivity, but also presenting challenges like intensified workloads, diminished autonomy, and increased psychosocial risks, including stress and an ‘always-on’ culture. His speech will highlight emerging trends such as the growing focus on digital mental health, personalized digital experiences, and the integration of digital well-being tools, while also addressing challenges around privacy, security, and work-life boundaries. Implications for management include the need for holistic, proactive strategies that integrate well-being considerations into digital transformation, foster worker participation, and ensure responsible technology use. The keynote concludes by outlining a research agenda that calls for interdisciplinary studies on digital well-being, the development of effective interventions, and the alignment of digitalisation with sustainability and CSR goals.
